BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Ray Villard has specialized in communicating astronomy to the public for the
past 30 years. He has received several NASA service awards for his contribution
to the Hubble telescope project. As News Director for the Space Telescope
Science Institute at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, he is
responsible for disseminating news about the most recent discoveries made with
Hubble Space Telescope. He previously was associate editor for Astronomy
Magazine, and Star & Sky magazine. He has written a variety of freelance
articles for magazines, encyclopedias, and scripts for several syndicated
science program on public radio. Mr. Villard has scripted shows for several
major planetariums and developed planetarium school programs. He teaches
astronomy courses and hosts public seminars through the Johns Hopkins University
,the Smithsonian Institution and Howard Community College in Columbia MD. He
holds an M.S. in Science Communication from Boston University. He recently
published a book, “Telescope Inside and Out” for middle school students. A new
book "Infinite World: An Illustrated Voyage to Planets Beyond Our Sun," will be
released in mid-2005.
